Safety around damaged trees
Stay clear of leaning trees, hanging limbs and anything touching power lines. Wind-loaded limbs can fall without warning.
Never use a chainsaw on a tree under tension or near lines.
What a pro looks at
An arborist checks the trunk, root zone and structure of the tree to decide whether it can be saved. Cracks, lifted soil and decay all matter.
They also check for hanging branches that could fall later.
Cleanup and recovery
Large cleanups need chain saws, rigging and often a chipper. Smaller debris can be bagged or mulched. Ask whether your crew hauls everything away.
Photograph damage for insurance before moving anything.
Avoiding bad deals
After storms, door-to-door crews may show up and ask for deposits. Take your time, check references and get a written scope.
A good arborist will explain what needs to be done and why.
